Which nation has won the most awards at the Olympics?

The next Olympic Games won't happen until next year, but that doesn't mean people aren't thinking about them already.

Because of the war in Ukraine, the country's sports minister said they would not go to the 2024 Olympics in Paris if Russia and Belarus were allowed to play.

And in December, the International Olympic Committee said it would delay choosing the host city for the 2030 Winter Olympics because of worries about climate change.

As temperatures rise, it makes winter sports harder to do when there isn't enough snow.

Here's what you need to know about the world medal standings until then.

From the 1908 Summer Olympics to the 2022 Summer Olympics, 3,105 gold medals were won by the United States.

Olympedia, a collection made by members of the International Society of Olympic Historians, says that this includes 1,229 gold medals, 1,000 silver medals, and 876 bronze medals.

Germany comes in second with 1,211 medals. When Germany won 142 medals at the winter games last year, they passed the Soviet Union to become the runner-up.
