Trevor Lawrence remains out of practice on Thursday

Based on the current situation, it appears that C.J. Beathard will be the quarterback for the Jaguars when they play the Buccaneers this coming Saturday.

Trevor Lawrence, who is undergoing concussion protocol, is not expected to be on the field for the portion of practice that is open to the media on Thursday,

was reported by various reporters who are there at the scene. It is now more likely than ever before

that Lawrence will be unable to play in the opening game of his NFL career.

On Thursday night, Beathard came close to starting Jacksonville's Week 14 defeat to Cleveland and Week 7 victory over the Saints.

Lawrence was suffering with ailments prior to both of those games, so Beathard was almost forced to start for Jacksonville.

On the other hand, Lawrence was still able to participate in those games.

Throughout the course of this season, Beathard has made five appearances and completed 12 of 14 passes for 77 yards.

Although he was with the 49ers in the year 2020, he has not started a game since then.
