The Kansas City Chiefs lose at home and fall short of clinching the AFC West.

KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP) — Even after one of the worst games of the season, Patrick Mahomes believes the Kansas City Chiefs can reach the heights they have in recent seasons.

"I still believe that we can go do what we want to do," Mahomes said following a 20-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, which delayed the Chiefs' bid for an eighth straight AFC West title by at least a week.

"It's just how can we correct it as quickly as possible," he went on to say.

"We're two games left that are guaranteed and then you talk about the playoffs and so all you can do is move on to that next day, get better then and try to be better the next time we step on the field."

The Chiefs don't need to accomplish much to improve in their game against the Cincinnati Bengals next week.

They had minus-18 yards in the first quarter against the Raiders, the worst for any NFL team since 2011.

.The Raiders' two touchdowns came on defense, one on a fumble following a botched handoff between Mahomes and Isiah Pacheco and the other on an interception thrown by Mahomes.

"You see glimpses of it," Mahomes said when asked what gave him hope that the Chiefs may solve their offensive woes that have plagued them for the most of the season.
