Patrick Mahomes frustrated with Kadarius Toney after another Chiefs error.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made excuses for wide receiver Kadarius Toney all week after he lined up offsides on a potential game-winning score against the Buffalo Bills. After criticizing the officiating crew, Mahomes was penalized $50,000.

Because of Toney, the Chiefs' receiving corps has struggled all season. Besides Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce, Mahomes has few reliable targets. Even though Toney is explosive, he makes too many mistakes.

On Sunday against the New England Patriots, Toney dropped another pass that was intercepted.

Toney has a contract until next season. He might be cut by a Chiefs team hoping to win another Super Bowl. Toney is making no winning plays right now.

Mahomes seemed irritated with the troubled wideout as he approached the sideline. New England scored after the fumble, regaining the game.

Mahomes always says the right things, and his postgame press conference following a Chiefs win should be no different. Kansas City had lost two straight, and while it wasn't nice, they recovered well against the lowly Pats on Sunday.

Coach Bill Belichick may be coaching for his job. Before Sunday, Bailey Zappe played well. Patriots are better than their record suggests. However, Mahomes and Co. won on the road, an NFL rarity.

Mahomes will observe Toney's recent difficulties. He's untrustworthy in key occasions.
