McDonald's Q3 results: Revenue jumps 14% at $6.69 billion

McDonald's Corp. reported better-than-expected sales in the third quarter ended September 30, buoyed by popular promotions, on Monday.

According to the corporation, global same-store sales — or sales at sites open at least a year —

increased 8.8% from July to September. Same-store sales increased by 8.1% in the United States.

McDonald's reported a 14% increase in revenue to $6.69 billion.

Its net income increased 17% to $2.3 billion, despite a $26 million charge for a restructuring announced this spring.

For the third quarter, the Chicago-based corporation earned $3.17 per share.

Its sales increased despite McDonald's raising pricing on some menu items in the United States.

However, promotions such as a 50-cent double cheeseburger on National Cheeseburger Day in September attracted customers in.

McDonald's in the United Kingdom offered discounts throughout August, including 60% off Big Macs and Chicken McNuggets.
