Annie Grant says her husband Vince Gill "made every day of the journey okay" after the bike accident.

After having a bike accident in Nashville in July that made her cancel several tour dates, Amy Grant told PEOPLE on Saturday, "And I do feel fantastic."

Amy Grant is back on her feet, in part because her husband helped her.

The 62-year-old Grammy winner told PEOPLE that her husband Vince Gill "made every day of the journey okay" after her bike accident in July.

She said this as she arrived at the Music Center in Los Angeles on Saturday for an event honoring Jerry Moss.

"The biggest thing was in the two months after the wreck, it was really depressing," she said. "Everything canceled, and I just said, 'What if I'm never all the way back?'"

He told her, "Every day, bad things happen to people. You just have to take it one day at a time. I love you."

That made every day of the trip kind of fine. "And I really do feel great," Grant said.

The musician said she still has low stamina and "memory problems." "Well, they said a 12 to 18-month recovery for a head injury, so every once in a while, I'll be talking to someone and they'll say something that I think I used to know, and I'll gasp and go, 'Are you kidding me?!'"
