Our complete guide to 'Outlander' prequel 'Blood of My Blood' 

The start of 2023 brought "Outlander" fans good and terrible news. Starz renewed the series for an eighth and final season, ending their aspirations to adapt all of Diana Gabaldon's books.  

While Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire's (Caitríona Balfe) time-traveling adventures will end, a prequel series focusing on the Fraser family is in development, much to the pleasure of fans. 

The 2020 Deadline report that Starz executives had urged Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis "to plot a slew of spin-offs, sequels and story extensions." raised speculation that the show was extending the "Outlander" world.  

The prequel series was announced, and some months later, the writers' room began writing screenplays and named the series "Outlander: Blood of My Blood." 

Despite no release date or casting announcements, several other information regarding the series have been revealed. Everything we know thus far. These two "Outlander" characters are best known via their son Jamie (Sam Heughan). 

"'Blood of My Blood' is, at its heart, a love story," said showrunner and executive producer Roberts. "It will explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury,  

and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain." The couple eloped and hid until Ellen was visibly pregnant with their first child, forcing her family to accept their union.
